She is a licensed and board-certified member of the American Board of Family Medicine. Since completing her Residency in the Department of Family Practice at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1983, Dr. Schooley has chaired or been a member of numerous professional and community organizations; instructed graduate and undergraduate medical students; given over 70 medical presentations; and written journal articles and book chapters. He works as both a clinical and teaching attending. The hospital's emergency department is a Level I and sees about 60,000 patients each year. Dr. Mayer is also a Professor for Emergency Medicine at Albany Medical College where he teaches a four year course in evidence-based medicine.
